Note to Users: This chapter provides protection for critical areas, including critical saltwater and critical freshwater habitats, located within the jurisdictional limits of the Shoreline Management Act. In accordance with RCW 36.70A.480(4) critical areas within shoreline jurisdiction must be protected such that there is no net loss of shoreline ecological functions. The County’s existing critical areas ordinance, in Chapter 27.12 CCC, applies to critical areas outside of shoreline jurisdiction.
